Ideas for Irish Dog Names
This is the place to find perfect Irish dog names. Whether you name your dog for his color, personality or something heroic sounding. I'm sure you'll find a name here that will be a perfect fit for your dog (or other pet).
When it came time to name my dogs, I missed the boat when I was a kid. I didn't know about Irish dog names back then. I had a Cocker Spaniel named Rusty. He was a rusty red color. Knowing what I know now I probably would name have named him Flanagan. Maybe I could have added it to his name Rusty Flanagan that sounds cool. That would mean rusty "red". Perfect fit.
Later I had a Siberian Husky named Prince. His father's name was King so I thought it only fitting. Now, using Irish dog names, I might have called him Breandan for "prince" or maybe Whelan because he looked like a "wolf". Maybe Whelan Breandan for "wolf prince". On second thought probably not. The meaning fits, but it doesn't roll off the tongue well does it. Oh well.
I know, I know there are other pets too. I can't help it if I like dogs. Irish dog names will work for them too. My daughter use to have a Guinea Pig she should have named Foley meaning "plunderer". When she let him loose in the house he would get in to everything. When he didn't want to go back in his cage he was hard to catch. More than once we would corner him under the couch then flip it over so we could get to him. After that he would resign himself to the fact that he was caught and wait for us to pick him up. Game over. That would have been a perfect name for that pet.
I'm sure if you use your imagination and the names on the following tables you will find the perfect name for your pet. You could use one or two name combinations from the lists. You could combine a name with your own Surname to make a cool, meaningful name. After all your dog is probably part of the family. Whatever you do have fun while picking out the name for your pup (or other pet).
I still think Rusty Flanagan is a cool, fun name for a dog.
